So I occasionally write games. Since I talk to Ken a lot, I occasionally show Ken my games. Inevitably, something goes wrong.

Turns out, here's Ken's platform for browsing:
Windows 98 SE
Internet Explorer 6
800x600 resolution

So he complains that my game opens in too large a window (I specifically sized it to run in 1024x768 well) and that Java doesn't work right (in Windows 98? Not surprised). I suggest "perhaps you should upgrade to something made this century". He gets all pissy and hangs up.

I am really glad the people I am paid to ship code to run on sane platforms.

My father runs a 20-something inch LCD monitor at 1024x768. I really need to teach him about the DPI setting in Windows.

Eh, you kids these days and your "sharp eyesight" and "making out the edges of things."

The problem is that running a LCD at a non-native resolution results in things being blurry since the display expands it to fill the screen. The one thing I've never confirmed is whether people with poor eyesight who need things bigger can see the blurriness - drives me bonkers to see it though.

Ah, like Ross I missed "LCD." Clearly I need to up the resolution and sharpen the focus on my own LCD.

Lucky me, I work with government folks. Some of them prefer 640x480.
