Cassie is driving to two different and widely-separated Thanksgiving dinners, so I'm on my own. I am attempting to cook something, since if I screw up, nobody else will have to suffer. I have:

One chicken
Baked sweet potatoes
Garlic rice (couldn't find stuffing, my grocery store blows)
Gravy
Half-remembered recipe of how to do this

I'll update this as I go along.

1 PM:
Unwrapped the chicken, preheated the oven, and used a spoon to scoop gunk out of the middle part and throw it away. I know there's something I'm supposed to do with that, but I dunno what, so I'm wasting it. The rice apparently needs less than ten minutes to cook, so I'm not doing it yet. The gravy would probably take longer, if it weren't in a jar.

2:20 PM:
Chicken appears done, have put sweet potato in microwave, and rice on stove. I'm shocked the chicken didn't screw up somehow; it was the part I was worried about. Everything else should be a cakewalk.

3 PM:
Wow, everything worked. I will have to do that more often. Of course, I always say that.

Bits from the inside of the bird - I've been told you cook them up (dunno how, can't help you there), chop them very finely, and add them to the gravy that you make from the bird drippings. Me, I'm a fan of gravy from a jar or a packet, so I've never actually done the giblets gravy thing myself.

Last night was: chicken from a bird I cooked about a week ago, two roasted sweet potatoes, two mashed white potatoes, some lima beans (previously frozen), and Stove Top stuffing. We also had wine, but I forgot to rant about that in my post. I'll have to remember to do so later.

I drink too much tea and now my tastes tell me that tannins = oversteeped. Unfortunately, that's apparently a major component of red wine so my poor brain, in addition to telling me this grape juice is well beyond it's use-by date, tells me this drink needs to be tossed and started over with new leaves.

Nice job! :D

I think I'm celebrating Thanksgiving with an egg sandwich...

Cassie's food is muy deliciosa. It is unfortunate that mine is nowhere near as tasty. T-T
