New Lappy

As I mentioned to some of you, my father's laptop hard drive died recently. $400 made the broken black MacBook mine, and another $80 bought a 250 gig hard drive to fix it. Got it all put together and working last night, with a fresh install of Leopard and everything!

I'm trading an iPod dock to a friend of mine at work for 2 gigs of RAM for it, too, so once I get that it'll be a pretty capable little machine.

The keyboard will take some getting used to. I have to press harder than I'm used to on these Apple chiclet keyboards.

One thing it doesn't have is a name. What should I name it? My other machines are "spaceclam", "kallisti", "kandor", and "moonbox". Ideas?

And I think you should name it Ganymede.

Because it's 1) a moon of Jupiter, going with your vaguely space-related theme, and 2) it's a myth about pretty boy gay love!

Space theme? Eh, sort of.

My theme is actually:

Dove: Dual-processor machine, doves come in pairs.
Kallisti: "The fairest" Mac, the best one with the most stuff.
Spaceclam: From this comic.
Moonbox: A laptop designed solely to play Moonbase Commander.
Kandor: An emulated Windows machine on Kallisti. Kandor was the Kryptonian city in a bottle in the Superman comics.

I was thinking "GlaDOS". Ganymede is too serious, all the rest of my names are puns. :^)

Well, some of them.

For a while I had a theme of Apollo spacecraft going. I had columbia, eagle, falcon, and my PDA was rover.
