Questions from Tucker
Nov. 12th, 2006 03:41 pmAny regrets?
Yeah, actually. Pretty much any time in the past I was a jerk to someone, I regret it. Most of those people know who they are, I think.
What's the worst part about living in Houston?
The weather, and being alone all the time. The weather is either hot and muggy or cool and muggy, and I'm alone all the time since I really know nobody in this town. I miss being able to call up you and Adam and Emily to go play games or watch a movie or something.
Who's the last person you want to see before you die?
Really, I don't know. The obvious answer is that I don't want to die at all, but that's probably not an option. I'll say either: someone I love and trust, saying "don't worry, I'll feed your cat"; or a world-class doctor saying "many millions of dollars and months of work were spent trying to save you; we spared no expense but it can't be done".
If you were suddenly required to change your name, to what would you change it?
My initial flip answer is ';drop table users, but that would probably cause more trouble than the joke is worth in the long run. I can see myself with a title, so I guess I could change my first name to Duke Ross, or Baron Ross. Really, though, I like my name. I have a unique, descriptive name already, I don't really feel the impulse to change it. If my name were Dave or John or something, I'd want to change it to stand out from the rest of the people with generic names, but I've only met one other Ross ever, so my name is acceptable.
Where did it all go wrong?
Where didn't it? I consistently make bad decisions with long-term repercussions, though I'm getting better. I graduated, moved to South Dakota, and listed "web development" on my resume; all bad decisions that I am either still paying for, or had to go through a painful process to get out of. Not to mention the whole thing with learning to type fast but not learning to type correctly. That's been very (literally) painful.

3. How can comics become a respectable medium? Who's doing the best work to raise their reputation in that regard?
4. Since I got here, I've heard nothing but bad, hateful things about New Orleans. I don't trust anyone who hasn't seen it themselves, so what is it like? Corrupt city of scum, or innocent working-class city hit by a million tons of flying water?
5. My favorite question: you have a time machine and one bullet. Who would history be better off without?
