My weekend

Watched some TV (downloaded; West Wing and Battlestar Galactica) and ate some Hot Pockets and played a lot of World of Warcraft since hey, what else is there to do?
It's rather odd to think that there actually is nothing else to do; no school projects, no work I could be doing (I'm exempt now; I work an ordinary schedule unlike when I was part-time and worked when I felt like it), no other games to play even. I downloaded the World of Warcraft soundtrack from eMule (as you can see) so I can listen to it at work. This sounds obsessive, I guess, but it's actually some good ambient music.
Finally got my garage door opener fixed, and bought stuff to mail the guy his Zombies rules which I left out of the box accidentally, and generally did not much of anything for three days.
Next Friday I get paid and I'll buy some things and pay some bills, and next week I imagine I will be utterly consumed by work again, but this weekend was very relaxing.

Dave and Kayla and I have been playing Warcraft together as horde characters. For those people who have never played Warcraft in any form the horde are the Orcs and Trolls and such who play the evil side, while the alliance are the humans, elves, etc. Pretty much everyone we know plays alliance, because there is a difference: you can't mail things to the other side, or friend them, or auction things with them or trade. If you are horde and all your friends are alliance, then they can't send you neat items to help you out.

So we've been playing horde together. It's pretty fun, and works well without voice chat, which I was worried about. One thing which impresses me a lot about the game is the variety between classes. Your race doesn't really determine anything but where you start, but your class drastically affects how you play. I have three characters I play regularly, a human mage (on another server), an elven druid, and my orc warlock. All are casters, but all are completely different to play. The mage can't heal himself at all, and just relies on spells and general coolness (eventually a wand) to kill things. Does a lot of damage, but can't take hits. The druid can heal herself, hide in the shadows, can stick things to the ground to keep them away from her (a trick which the mage would love to have), and as of this afternoon can turn into a bear. But, she doesn't do as much damage as the mage; her spells aren't as nifty. The warlock is maybe my favorite, because he is much easier in the low levels: he gets a pet imp which he can order to attack things, and he can turn health into mana (neither other character can get mana for free, and the mage can't get health or mana for free), and can even sorta heal himself. If I kill something with a certain spell I get a soul shard, which I can turn into a healthstone which gives me health when I use it. Not as simple as the druid just healing herself, but it makes one other odd thing I have to try for in combat.

They all play very differently, and each one is good at one thing and terrible at other things. Which is the other thing that impresses me: the game is very balanced. A few players working together can do a lot more than one individually, and there's not much squabbling over things because if one needs something, the others probably don't. Even the quest which I'm supposed to do alone, I was completely unable to do without the help of both Dave and Kayla. Kayla and I were trapped in a cave for a while because even just two of us weren't enough. We needed a tank and a healer and a caster all at once. No single class can do that, but each can be one of them.

I think next I want to try rogue. I have no idea what those are good for.

Rogues are good for high dps output (they have some of the highest damage output in the game). Also have good combo's that stack up for massive damage the longer the fight goes on. They can stealth and move (good for being sneaky and getting to places to scout).
