Well I get to use this icon again
Dec. 10th, 2012 11:24 pmI'm making a new controller.
This time, I'm going to try to do it a little better. I've got a different sort of analog stick, a 5-way navigation switch for a d-pad (which I'll need to print a cap for; no one seems to sell d-pad caps), different buttons (easier to press, still clicky) and I'll put in shoulder buttons.
I expect this one to take longer than three days.
So far, what I have is knowledge of how to talk to all the inputs. Here they all are, with leads connected. The little switch on top will swap between keyboard / mouse and joystick mode, I think.
I'm planning on something like the Gamecube layout: big analog stick and d-pad on the left, four buttons and little analog on the right. Start / select in the middle and two shoulder buttons.
It'll need to be bigger in some dimension to make everything fit, the middle part is going to get a little cramped what with the switch, start / select, and the micro all sharing a couple cubic inches. Dunno what I'll do about that yet. I may need to stay with the sort-of-ugly solution I had last time where the micro is in a little pod on the back.
