Okay, so now I know why blue tape isn't as good as Kapton: it doesn't last as long. After two prints I had to clean it off with Windex to get anything to stick, and after one more it started peeling off in a pretty serious way. So there's that. It's cheap and easy but needs replacing probably once a day.
