More desk improvement
Sep. 1st, 2012 07:01 pmSince my apartment complex's idea of how to light my desk was a fluorescent lamp aimed right in my face, I picked up a set of IKEA LED lights a while back to put underneath the shelf for indirect lighting action. I used some double-sided tape to stick them up, but every couple days it would come unstuck and I'd have to mash them up there again.
It's a long weekend and Cassie's gone and I'm bored; I finally decided this was a problem I had no reason to put up with any more.
A few minutes with a micrometer and Tinkercad and I had this. 20 minutes of printing later and I had this, which fit perfectly on to the lights and then, after I'd made three more, on to the shelf.
They work beautifully, they cost 64 cents total (it's 4 cents per gram of plastic) and they fit my shelves exactly. And when it's time to move, I'll throw them out, measure the shelves in the new place, and print new ones that fit perfectly there too.
