I can't believe this came out right.

See, our designer at work had me make a sort of calibration cube, a 1 inch hollow cube with some cutouts in it, and I noticed that the overhang on his triangular cutout looked good. And, I noticed that when I did the nautilus gears the pegs came out well. So I thought, I bet tall skinny things at 60 degrees would still print all right. And they did!

So now I'm thinking, there are some variations on this that I bet would work. A six-sided one is obvious, and putting it on a brick-shaped platform to hold it steady would make a neat marker holder. Or, I wonder if it would still work with the diagonals only going one way, sort of like a double-helix pattern? Or would it be more stable if I stopped the pattern halfway through a diamond and put a ring around the top? The middle is really tough but the top part could be broken (not, like, accidentally, but it could).
