Woke up today holding a cell phone. I apparently called Kay, or she called me, in my sleep. I don't remember any of that conversation. She was nice to me all day though, so I guess I'm a pleasant conversationalist when I'm asleep.
I had the weirdest dream: I had teamed up with a younger version of myself (or an older one, which one I was shifted frequently) to build a Potemkin funeral home in in the middle of nowhere. The idea was that people would drive up to use our fake funeral home and we'd kidnap and kill them. Only one person came up though, and she left pretty soon after, so myself and I ended up playing with toy airplanes for the rest of the dream. Very odd.
I went over to help Kay remove all the things from her house. Before we did that, we went to Dave and Kayla's (since I was in town anyway) to pick up a book I wanted to borrow from her, and then we went to buy a giant trashcan to more easily carry things away from the apartment. We moved things for a while, then went over to play games with Tucker and Nathan at VirPack.
Nexus Ops is really good. I expect I'll think less of it after I've played it more, but it's quite fun now. The single rule which makes it good is the combats, which last exactly one round and then survivors just coexist in the same space. It means that you can get in fights without losing everything, which makes it worth your time to start fights. In other games like it I've played (mainly Warcraft: The Boardgame and Twilight Imperium) the first people to get in fights lose, which makes for a pretty dull wargame.
I already have an idea of the next game I want to write. I need to make a couple libraries first, though. I'll be surprised if I finish it before I graduate. I could probably have made a decent chunk of progress on it this past weekend, but I ended up writing other things.
Tomorrow I am helping Kay move things again, and then coming back to do my database homework. Tuesday I go back to class, and then to a review session for the midterm exam in databases on Wednesday. Thankfully, I have only two classes Wednesday; Algorithms was canceled because our professor is on travel. So I can study a bit between the two. Or go hang out with Kay instead, that sounds more fun.
