Today there was a game day, and a party at Dave and Kayla's house. I didn't exactly go to either.

Game Day was actually fairly good. Chris was there, and Andrew wasn't because of some VTSFFC thing (that being more important than the club he's president of). David was there but he didn't annoy me too much. I played Attika and lost, Tigris and won by tiebreaker (really didn't expect to pull that one out) and Shadow of the Emperor and got horribly stomped. I left after Shadow, largely because Rebecca was finding it more fun to piss me off than to play the game, which made me not want to play games with people. Here is where I reference the ornery coot thing, I guess.

After I left, I went over to Dave and Kayla's house for Shawn's birthday party. I was going to invite Kay, but she didn't come to Spiel or answer her phone when I called her, so there's that. Anyway, it's probably for the best since I would have completely ignored her; shortly after I came in, Kayla came back from Spiel and said to me, "May I borrow you for a bit?". I followed her outside and we ate tasty bits of shark and talked about various things, which I didn't entirely understand until about three hours later. When it got dark and cold, Rebecca and someone I don't know came out to get in the hot tub, and I wasn't in the mood to deal with naked people, particularly Rebecca, so Kayla and I went and hid upstairs and cuddled and talked until about three in the morning. Hours and hours. It's been years since we've done that, and it felt really good.

The upshot is that we each convinced the other to do something that we should probably have done before anyway, so we'll see how that goes. We shared some secrets, and generally were quiet and close for a while. I needed that, and I think that she did too.
