But hey, in a week I'll never post about things this boring again, right?

School:
  • I got the grade back from the Amateurism paper. A- isn't bad for a ten-page paper I did over the course of about two days while playing Angband in the background.
  • The Database Project nears completion rapidly. None of that was there yesterday evening. Yes, it sucks, it's nowhere near to my usual standards, but I don't care. I will probably throw together a couple pages for inserting data.
  • All the assignments are finished for college then, except finals. I'm a tiny bit worried about Ag Econ's final but not much. I'll pass with a D at least, but it is the one class left it's possible to fail.
  • Graduation announcements are sent out, all to family, but I have like twenty left over. If anyone wants one (they're pretty, and on nice paper, if nothing else) leave me a note.

Not School
  • I am flying to Sioux Falls next Thursday, then back on Sunday, in time to leave for Houston on Tuesday, and come back the following Wednesday. If they offer me a position that pays anywhere above $30,000 per year, I will be shortly moving to Sioux Falls. However, all signs point to SAIC being willing to pay relocation costs, so that's not so bad.
  • Houses in Sioux Falls are very inexpensive. The lowest one I found was $38,000, with the one I want being $95,000. This translates to somewhere between $200 and $400 a month mortgage payment.
  • I've been playing Diablo some recently, and I like it a lot. If I can make a Roguelike that good (not graphically, but otherwise) then I'm doing something right.
  • I played many Intellivision games last night with Adam. One, called Biplanes, is quite possibly the most fun game since Spacewar. You fly little biplanes and shoot each other, and it's actually got a flight model. You can stall if you climb too fast, and recover speed by diving, and so forth. In a dogfight it seems that the person with the most energy wins, but that's because it doesn't model inertia very well. Buy hey, it's an Intellivision game. Another one, where Penguins skate around and dunk other penguins in the water, would make an excellent Flash game.
  • According to some people at work the CEV contract is not going together well at all. It may not even happen, and it may not happen with SAIC if it does, which makes me sad but also happy that I'm not dependent on it. People at work are asking me to put in good words for them with the South Dakota people. This was a fast reversal of roles.
