More printing. I haven't taken any pictures this time though.
So, there's two ways to print things. One way is to just start extruding plastic on to the bed. This is kinda iffy because if the first layer doesn't stick right then the whole model is pretty much boned. If it works, then it still may smear near the bottom some. So, I don't really like doing that.
On the other hand, you can print with a raft. You lay down a sort of sketchy layer that's printed really slowly with a thick line, then print everything else on top of that. Since the raft can't really screw up and plastic never fails to adhere to plastic (just to the bed, sometimes), the print always comes out... with an ugly raft stuck to the bottom.
But I think I may have figured out a solution. There's a setting to print an "interface layer" of really loose, thin strands between the raft and the object. The trick here is that they don't stick as well to either one as the raft and the object stick to each other, so it's easier to peel the raft off, then sand off the interface. Works like a charm.
So that's the raft problem pretty much solved.
