I still don't understand how this site works, or why it decided to show me this post yesterday, but it's a good post and I friended subscribed to the person who posted it.
At a guess, you hit the "Network" link, which is the combined reading list of everyone you've subscribed to (minus the people you've subscribed to). It's pretty cool; I've found it better for finding cool things than the "random journal/community" links.
