Golden Flaky Crust
Apr. 5th, 2008 08:12 pmSo today I was going to be busy all day. I woke up at about 9:30, drove to Friendswood to get my mother, then drove her to the airport. Went from there to U of H to play D&D.
Normally we play D&D on Saturdays. I had talked to our DM, Ted, last night, and told him that I was unavailable until about 1. I overestimated how far it was from IAH to UH though, so I actually got there at maybe noon... Where I found one of the other players, Andy, sitting there saying "WTF did everyone go?"
Apparently Ted and Pranav, one of the other players, showed up at 10, waited until 11:30 (just a couple minutes before Andy got there), decided nobody was coming and left. Seriously, WTF people? Way to flake.
Ted apparently flakes out like this often. I knew him very well from about 1995 to 2000, and then basically didn't see him at all until this year. The people who actually stayed here and went to college with him have told me stories, which I sort of didn't believe. He is very manic-depressive though, and I think this was an example of the "depressive" phase of that. I get where these people are coming from now.
Anyway, Andy and I hung out until 1, thinking maybe they would come back (did I mention Ted has no phone? New rule for consumer electronics: if Adam has one, you have no excuse), then decided "screw them", found Pranav on AIM, went to Nan's to buy games, came back and played what we bought.
What I bought was Can't Stop, and Race For The Galaxy. CS remains awesome, and Race, which I hadn't played yet, is quite cool and I want to play again.
Went home from there, with a stop to feed the cats at my mother's house (which has no air conditioner now, poor cats), and now I'm going to write code and think about Race.
